This is the last call of DUSA March Roundtable on March 7th, 2019.
On March 7, the eve of International Women's Day 2019, you are invited to come and learn about the latest research and findings on how to motivate women to take on leadership roles in business.
Although women are making positive gains in the number of senior management roles at Fortune Global 500 companies, the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report states that gender parity is over 200 years away.
Dr. Ellen Touchstone's presentation will inspire and inform companies about initiatives which will motivate and prepare women for leadership roles, and what both men and women can do collectively to support each other to achieve better work/life balance.
Ms. Donna Deng will explore difficulties in women in pursue of senior leader positions and share with us her suggestions on what to prepare.
Ms. Maria Chen will talk about:
- Why do we need to balance work and life?
- What needs to be balanced? Time? Energy? External demands?
- How to balance (3 aspects)
1. Find your priority-trigger event
2. Build up your career support system
3. "Borrow" the strength from your team

Dr. Ellen Touchstone is the IBSS Director of Internationalization as well as a Senior Teaching Fellow in Marketing.
She received her MBA in International Business from Thunderbird – School of Global Management and her PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Southern California. Her research interests are varied and, in addition to strategic and relationship marketing include CSR (corporate social responsibility), critical marketing, multilingual advertising and the linguistic service escape.
She has taught at the University of Southern California (USC), the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University-Long Beach and Whittier College. In terms of B2B marketing, Touchstone founded and owned her own language planning consulting firm whose clients were large governmental agencies such as the Australian 2000 Olympics organizers and the Los Angeles Police Department. Additionally, she worked in the corporate world as an Assistant Director of Marketing for Lingual Care – a 3M Company and as a Strategy Marketing Manager for PeopleSoft, now owned by Oracle. In 2017, she received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and presented at the TEDX Suzhou Women’s Conference. In 2018, she was the keynote speaker on #Pressing for Progress in terms of women’s leadership at both the Star.t Salon sponsored by Office Star and the XJTLU International Women’s Day events.
