1.1-June Captain Dinner @Niccolo Hotel: How to motivate&engage young professionals  


June 23rd, DUSA Quarterly Captain dinner was held at highest luxury hotel Niccolo Suzhou IFS center 115F. the topic "How to motivate and engage young professionals" is related to the communication, especially focus on the young generation in manufacturing companies. we are honored to invite Compton Tothill, the Managing director of Thomas Webb Management Consuliting Co.,Ltd as speaker to what kind of leadership needed to motivate the young generations.

1.2- DUSA HR Circle@KeyTec: Next Generation Talent Review



Although most companies conduct talent reviews EVERY Year, many of them are still unable to clearly define the specific areas of their talents' potential. Hence, many High Potential programms are merely nominal projects where managers go through the motion without really optimizing their talents' potential to achieve any real contribution. DUSA HR Circle Talent Review was held in KeyTec Precision Components Co.,Ltd. Cathay Cang has illustrated the reality, basic methods and definition of talent review. Jojo Cong From Bbraun has shared their internal practical case study of BBraun. The discussion between HR managers from different companies got heated and everybody has a good take away home.

1.3- DUSA/GAMI Joint workshop: Digital Shopfloor Management


Dr. Ing Shun Yang, Executive of KIT China Branch has presented the introduction, process and traditional challengs of shopfloor management, also the shopfoor management in time of Industry 4.0, how to realize digitalization on the shopfloor.

1.4-DUSA Roundtable @HBK LSMC- Lean& Digital Manufacturing


Another successful roundtable "LSMC- Lean & Digital Manufacturing Goes Hand-in-hand"at HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær. General Manager of HBK Hans Chen introduced Suzhou plant. HBK has systematically started the lean journey since 2018 and have got some achievements after crossing the obstacles. Mr. @Nemo Yu, Corp Lean Director APAC of HBK shared their experience to us. Mr. @Bin Huang (Daniel ) from GAMI - Global Advanced Manufacturing Institute, introduced the lean concept as well as the used tools. Mr. Jan Walter, GM of Heimbach Group presented the results and Mr. Florian Weihard, Chairman of DUSA,introduced the Lean and Smart Manufacturing Circle (LSMC) and the SMAS guideline.

1.5-DUSA Social Gathering & DUSA Sport Circle


DUSA also has abundant and interesting social events. July Social gathering was held in W Toro Loco with great view and atmosphere.


DUSA Sport circle is also popular among members. May Badminton, June football and July Basketball were successfully held in Olympic Center. It's a good way of exercise and interacts with other members.

    Interview of a DUSA Member GM

    -4.1 Interviewee: Tobias Wilhelm, CEO of Suzhou Faigle Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd.

    1.Can you briefly introduce yourself? And your role in Suzhou Faigle Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd.

    My name is Tobias Wilhelm from Germany. I came to China 6 years ago.

    Now working as the CEO of Suzhou faigle Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd, company headquartered in Hard, Austria and Suzhou plant has been here for 20 years. Previously I have been working in the automotive field for over 10years.

    2. What were the top 3 challenges you faced when running your operations and how did you address those?


    For me personally, overall labor market condition and the related rising costs as well finding suitable production facilities on a reasonable cost is incredibly challenging today.

    3. Was faigle's business affected by COVID-19 pandemic?


    I have to say this convid-19 pandemic has a destructive impact on most of the countries, regions, areas and especially it has a negative consequence on the industries, business of every sector.


    During that challenging time, faigle did a lot of preparations to startup the business to reopen the plant so that our staffs are not influenced so that they can meet their basic needs. Employee's safety and new ways of dealing on the supply chain are topics up to now. 

    4. What originally brought you to Suzhou? Do you enjoy the life in Suzhou?


    Before coming to Suzhou, I had been working and staying in Northwestern part of China, Changchun. Around 3 years ago faigle brought me to Suzhou, and I fell in love with that city. As Suzhou is a modern city with lots of migrants like Shenzhen and enjoys excellent location, near Shanghai.


    I really like to be here in Suzhou with my family together in SIP. Weather here is not that cold or hot, with green trees everywhere, beautiful gardens and countless lakes.

    5. How do you hope to see DUSA develop in the future?


    I am a fan of DUSA as I really like the events held by DUSA organization, which offers me a platform to get to know more people, establish business networking. I see DUSA in the future more in the role where it came from. Member Companies ask each other for help and discussed openly about their challenges or problems. I believe DUSA with his Members is still a perfect platform for having this kind of exchange. As a foreign company we sometimes face problems and will not find the satisfying answer from lawyers or consultants.

    6. What do you like to do with your free time? 


    My wife Annika and my daughter Finja also live with me here in Suzhou and during our free time, we normally go out and explore the countless lakes and gardens, or I pay badminton, cycling and of course, we cook at lot at home. Sometimes we spend time together with my Chinese friends or we gather for a BBQ, or I attend social event for business purposes. .
