Dear DUSA Members and Friends,
We are delighted to present you the fourth session of the Online Brown Bag "Lunch and Learn Sessions" from DUSA Annual Partner: International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU).
Topic: Mindfulness & Creativity: Beyond Stress Reduction
Mindfulness practice originates from ancient Buddhism practice, meditation, but has now gone popular in western countries. Its effect on helping employees to reduce stress and to improve wellbeing has been scientifically proved by hundreds of research paper. But the value of mindfulness to organization actually go beyond stress reduction. Besides improving emotional intelligence, leadership, resilience and etc., mindfulness is helpful to improve creativity in the workplace. In this VUCA world that is even more accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the old business model and old way of doing business face many challenges. Creativity has become more and more crucial. All types of creative work, whether it is starting a business, developing a new product, creating an artistic piece or writing an article, depend upon something deeper, which is the power of mind in its roots. Mindfulness could be a powerful tool to cultivate a stable and open mind for our exciting challenges, so that our creative genius could flow out naturally like Steve Jobs.
