Oct 29: Sino-German Workshop on Water Treatment Technology of TRENT

Environmental protection is an essential part of China's 14th Five-Year Plan. Being among the strongest economic regions in Germany and China, and partner regions for more than 30 years, the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Jiangsu Province have been working hand in hand on environmental and energy solutions for a green and sustainable world. | 环境保护是中国"十四五"规划的一个重要组成部分。巴登符腾堡州和江苏省作为超过三十多年的"友好省州"及中德两国经济实力最强的区域之一，一直以来携手合作，为实现绿色可持续发展的社会提供环境和能源领域的解决方案。

Against this background, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) together with Umwelttechnik BW, the State Agency for Environmental Technology and Resource Efficiency Baden-Württemberg (UTBW), have established the "Transnational Competence Center for Environmental Technology and Research Jiangsu Baden-Württemberg" (TRENT). This project is funded by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector of Baden-Württemberg. In addition, the office of Baden-Württemberg International in Nanjing (BW_i Nanjing) and KIT China Branch in Suzhou will contribute to the competence center with its network in Jiangsu. | 以此为背景，在德国巴登符腾堡州环境、气候和能源部的支持下，卡尔斯鲁厄理工学院（KIT）携巴登符腾堡州环境技术和资源效率局（UTBW）共同筹建了"江苏省-巴符州环境技术和研究跨国能力中心"项目（简称碳达TRENT）。此外，德国巴符州国际经济和科技合作协会南京代表处(BW_i)与KIT中国研究院也将凭借其在江苏省的影响力为能力中心提供支持。

TRENT aims to permanently, systematically and structurally bundle existing competences and technologies in environmental sciences from Jiangsu and Baden-Württemberg and provide a platform for exchange and communication between universities and research institutions, public authorities and private enterprises in these two regions. Therefore, TRENT will hold a series of events to promote exchanges and collaboration of mutual interest. | 碳达项目将系统性地与结构性地整合江苏省和巴登符腾堡州环境科学领域的现有能力和技术，为两省州的高校、科研院所、公共部门和企业提供一个交流与沟通的平台。为此，碳达项目将举办一系列活动来促进双方在共同感兴趣领域的交流与合作。

With population growth, economic activity and climate change, the pressure on fresh water and water supplies and the shortage of water resources due to water pollution are becoming increasingly evident in countries around the world. The promotion of exchange and development in the field of water treatment technology has become one of the focal points of cooperation on global environmental issues. In order to deepen the exchange between Jiangsu Province and Baden-Württemberg in the field of water treatment technology and water pollution control, and to promote cooperation between industry and research in these two regions, the TRENT team planned this event and invited environmental experts and companies from these areas to jointly discuss the current challenges as well as the future priorities and potential directions for cooperation. | 随着人口增长、经济活动和气候变化，世界各国面临淡水及水供给的压力以及水污染造成的水资源短缺的问题也越来越明显。促进水处理技术领域的交流和发展成为全球环境问题合作的焦点之一。为了加深江苏省和巴登符腾堡州在水处理技术及水污染防治领域的交流以及促进两地"产学研"间合作，TRENT团队筹划本次研讨会，邀请来自该领域的环保专家和企业相聚在一起，共同探讨双方目前遇到的挑战及未来的发展重点和潜在的合作方向。

We warmly invite you to participate in the Sino-German Industry Workshop on Water Treatment Technology on Friday, October 29, 2021|15:00-17:30 (CST) / 9:00-11:30 (CEST). Both Chinese and German participants can attend the conference online, and representatives from companies and institutions are very welcome to come to KIT China Branch in Suzhou to take part in an onsite face-to-face meeting as well. In the first part of the workshop, experts from research institutes, universities and industry in Jiangsu Province and Baden-Württemberg will share their knowledge about the current technological demand and future development goals and present Sino-German industry-research cooperation projects. In the second part, companies and institutions will have the opportunity to introduce themselves. During the exchange session, the participants can raise topics of interests for discussion, intensify networking and explore the opportunities for future collaborations.
