This is the last call of DUSA Roundtable "LSMC - Lean & Digital Manufacturing Goes Hand-in-Hand" at HBK on July 22nd.
DUSA started the Lean and Smart Manufacturing Circle (LSMC) in early 2021. In the kick-off session, the LSMC members decided, that the focus and goal of the Circle should be to make progress in digital manufacturing, while lean manufacturing and its tools is seen as the basis for it. The team chose to take a practical case from a member company and use the SMAS Application Guideline as systematic approach.
Heimbach Fabrics volunteered to use their factory as example and GAMI to lead the project and provide professional lean manufacturing support. According to the SMAS Guideline, the first of the three steps is to DEFINE the top 3 potentials. After a first site visit, the Circle started with the assessment of the situation followed by a in-depth Value-Stream-Analysis. The findings of the assessment and analysis brought up several surprises and extremely valuable insights. Especially two areas of big potentials have been identified. Before we move to the next step taking action and TEST the ideas to unlock the potentials, we take the chance and introduce the key results and learnings from the first phase.
Mr. Bin Huang (Daniel) from GAMI, will introduce the lean concept as well as the used tools. Mr. Jan Walter, GM of Heimbach will present the results and Mr. Florian Weihard, Chairman of DUSA, will introduce the Lean and Smart Manufacturing Circle (LSMC) and the SMAS guideline.
The host company, HBK has systematically started the lean journey since 2018. In the journey, they have got some achievements after crossing the obstacles. Now they are still on the way. Mr. Nemo Yu, Corp Lean Director APAC of HBK will share their experience to us.

As CTO, he is now responsible for the Innovation Management and Technology Development in ruhlamat Automation Technologies as well as for the Digitalization Division as GM of ruhlamat Smart Technologies. He is also Chairman of DUSA European Business Association Suzhou.

Customers served include: Siemens, Bosch, B/S/H, Würth, Knorr-Bremse, ABB, EUCHNER, DMG, BBraun, ZANINI, ZIEHL-ABEGG, etc.
