Welcome to the IBSS Online Brown Bag Autumn-Winter Series! It comes to the fourth session. Dr. Xiaobo Xu will share the topic "Platform Revolution and Business Model Internationalization/Innovation under 'One Belt and One Road' Initiative" with us.

Topic: Platform Revolution and Business Model Internationalization/ Innovation under "One Belt and One Road" Initiative
We define the business model by analyzing the technology giants' development. We point out that the trend of business models has evolved from pipeline/linear business models to platform/network business models and from traditional business models to innovative business models. Furthermore, we discuss the implications for such strategies as marketing, operations and logistics, finance, human resources, IT, and R&D. New opportunities arise for business model internationalization/innovation under "One Belt and One Road Initiative (BRI)". Particularly, Dubai has effectively designed a unique and sustainable business model and has implemented the "Hala China" program for BRI. Several cases (Jollychic, ONEMT, and Yalla) will be presented to demonstrate how business model internationalization/innovation can be achieved under BRI.

Professor of Management Information Systems at IBSS, XJTLU
Xiaobo Xu is a Professor of Management Information Systems at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China. He received his BE in Management Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology and his Ph. D. in Management Information Systems from University of Mississippi.
His primary research interests include information systems project success, business model innovation, research methodologies, shared economy, e-commerce success, supply chain management, etc. His published articles appear in Journal of Business Research, Project Management Journal, Information Technology & Management, Information Systems Frontiers, International Journal of Information Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Internet Research among others. He has given many invited talks/seminars at different universities such as University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, HIT-Shenzhen, SCUT, Abu Dhabi University, Qatar University, etc. He has also provided consulting services to firms in United Arab Emirates and mainland China.
