There is no doubt that 5G will revolutionize manufacturing as we know it.
The concept of the smart factory has been around for quite some time. It will leverage technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, analytics, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) and will be able to run mostly autonomously with the ability to self-correct. But technology and connectivity limitations have held back development.
Until now 5G is more than just fast! Because this network technology's reliability is so high and its latency so low, equipment can communicate wirelessly with back-end systems for time-critical operations in ways that were not possible before. 5G will be the first cellular, wireless platform to offer reliable machine-to-machine and Industrial IoT systems. These machine-to-machine systems are going to be the digital infrastructure of tomorrow's smart factories. And that's what makes it to revolutionize manufacturing.
In DUSA November Roundtable, we will help you to understand the basics of 5G technology and why it will revolutionize manufacturing. Applications from manufacturing plants will provide insights in the potentials for SMEs.

CTO of ruhlamat Automation Technologies (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. & R&D Partner of the amtc of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology at Jiading Tongji UniversityFlorian Weihard is an Industry 4.0 Specialist and Chief Technology Officer with long Engineering and General Management experience. He has completed his mechanical engineering studies at OTH Regensburg, Germany in 2009. After starting his career as design engineer in the R&D in Germany in the same year, he moved to China in 2010. Over the following years, he set up and managed engineering offices and plants in China, Singapore, USA and Malaysia. Since 2015, he has been focusing on Industry 4.0 and Digitalization Technologies. As CTO, he is now responsible for the Innovation Management and Technology Development in ruhlamat Automation Technologies as well as for the Digitalization Division as GM of ruhlamat Smart Technologies. He is also the Co-initiator and Technology Expert of the Smart Manufacturing Application Sharing Forum as well as Member of the Board of Directors of DUSA European Companies Suzhou Association. He was a selected candidate of Jiangsu High-Level Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Introduction Program and won the award of 2018 Jiangsu High-Level Innovation and Entrepreneurship High Skilled Talent.

Smart Factory Kunshan is Startup Factory's new joint venture with Kunshan City Government established in 2017. The official opening of the 15,000 sqm facility took place in 2019, and in spring 2018 our Smart Factory Event Arena opened its door.
The purpose of the demonstration and integration factory is to create an innovative environment for Industrial Internet of Things / Industry 4.0 from research over demonstration till education. We enable international and Chinese companies to integrate and demonstrate their technology in the field of Industry 4.0 in a real-life production environment.
