Laurence Lau, a Singaporean having lived in China for more than 15 years, is a management consultant and executive coach with expertise in General Management, Marketing & Sales, International Business Operations, Information/ Knowledge Management and Organization Development especially for the fast pace complex value chains in the knowledge economy. He has gained recognition by forward-thinking managers with his three-pronged approach to personal development that he has advocated and practiced for years - namely generalist-specialist, global-local and cognition-innovation - as the competitive advantages for business organizations and individuals.

The professional experience of Laurence spans more than two decades of career with various global companies such as Philips (Senior Managers, Global Marketing & Sales and Business Operations), Carl Zeiss (Regional Director, SE Asia) and REHAU (HR Director & Business Partner, greater China & Asia Pacific) with managerial roles covering practically the entire value chain – technical services, software development and application training/ support, marketing & sales, business and industrial operations, information/ knowledge management, HR, general management and complete set-up of new regional businesses from scratch. Through these roles and in-depth interaction with customers, Laurence has built up extensive knowledge for particularly the industries of consumer electronics, precision measurement & manufacturing, scientific instruments, automotive, prototyping (3D printing), retail, pharmaceutical, FMCG, education as well as management consulting and talent solutions (high potentials assessment & development).

Laurence obtained his Master of Engineering in Canada. Through professional courses and job-relevant trainings, he has also acquired specific knowledge and insights in domains that include manufacturing management, total quality management, e-business & web applications, innovation techniques, learn-to-learn, business communication, knowledge management and professional coaching. In the area of public speaking in English, he has achieved advanced toastmaster status with Toastmaster International and was recognized as the best evaluator (higher projects category) in the 2004 Shanghai Toastmaster Speech Marathon. Laurence is also an accredited psychometric assessment (Facet5) consultant. He learns continuously and has recently received a Doctorate of Business Administration degree awarded by Grenoble Ecole de Management, France, with the research focus on “Talent Management in China”.

Laurence's consulting and coaching focus mainly on consulting areas for organization development, performance and effectiveness, talent supply chain & integration, HR system enhancement, employee engagement (formerly a mentor of the Ford Consumer Experience Movement which helps car dealers to drive customer loyalty via employee engagement) as well as executive coaching (leadership and business management). He is also passionate about education (e.g. innovation & entrepreneurship mentor at National University of Singapore (Suzhou) Research Institute; adjunct professor for the leadership module of the 1st CEO Executive Education Program at Xi’an JiaoTong Liverpool University).

Laurence has lived and worked in 7 different countries (in N. America, Europe, Asia) and speaks fluent English, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese) as well as German and French at working knowledge level.

If you register for an event but can't attend, please do let us know in advance. If you cancel 3 days before the event, there will be NO cancellation fee. DUSA will charge 50% of the registration fee if you cancel within 2 days, and 100% for cancellation within 24 hours.
