Dear DUSA Members and Friends,
It is the last call of DUSA Roundtable "The present and future of remote work" on August 20th, 2020. We are delighted to invite you to attend this event.
Until recently, many companies did not believe employees can be effective if they would be effective working remotely. The Covid-19 out-break forced everyone to change the way we work. While working remotely has been practiced for many years, especially for sales and on-site technical support, the recent Covid-19 outbreak had drastically increased the number of people who need to work remotely away from the office.
These include:
- Managers who are stranded overseas or are quarantined, and need to manage their staff remotely; and
- Managers who need to adapt their managerial styles and procedures to manage and communicate with employees who need to work away from the office
Issues that managers need to address include:
- Establishing common objectives so that everyone on the team can focus on key objectives;
- Developing trust that things will be done in the right ways even when one or more parties are not working in the office;
- Empowering others to plan their work schedules and make decisions in more autonomous ways;
- Communicating and keeping team members engaged;
- Mapping work procedures that enables transparency and visibility in remote management;
- Ensuring the effective communication in and between the remote teams.
To address the above concerns, we are inviting 2 speakers to share their perspectives at DUSA August Roundtable.
This is a hybrid event which will be held at DUSA member company: "Manuli Suzhou" and offer online live broadcast on Zoom at the same time.

Board Member at DUSAc.j. Is a DUSA Board of Directors member since December 2017. Stranded in Singapore since February 2020, he had no choice but to map out ways to work with his staff, partners and customers in China. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, c.j. had realized that the office had been under-utilized. He then asked his staff if they’d like to keep the office, or get rid of the office and then use the savings to pay them more. The decision was unanimous.
Besides volunteering for DUSA, c.j. runs a training and coaching consultancy to help companies achieve better results through their people.
Ms. Janine Jakob
Soft Skills Trainer, Life Design Coach and Founder of Full Potential Partners ShanghaiJanine Jakob is a Soft Skills Trainer and Life Design Coach from Germany and founder of her company Full Potential Partners Shanghai (潜智(上海)商务咨询有限公司). She moved to China in 2017. Having worked at Fortune 500 IT company Hewlett-Packard (HP) for 7 years, Janine has always worked and managed multinational remote and local teams in their home offices as well as physical work locations whether Janine performed in roles as Project Manager, Consultant, Sales or as Account Executive. Her main team members were located in various countries of EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa) as well as the USA, India and the Philippines.
Running her own consulting business in China, Janine has always operated and delivered her consulting, training and coaching services with a big variety of international team members online as well as offline even before covid-19.
Janine studied International Business in a double Masters program at German Munich Business School and at French SKEMA Business School in Suzhou, China. She is a passionate founder like Girl Gone International in Suzhou, also used to host InterNations in Suzhou. She bridges intercultural relationships and promotes well-being, mindset and motivation in her online community Monday Morning Motivation.
